This is what I have been waiting for. Getting out and about on the streets of Bangalore. We started off our journey with a great overview of India and Bangalore's spot in world history, put in context of other events. Then we walked through the old British section of the town. The British impact was clear when seeing that there was still a statute of Queen Victoria as the Empress of India.
Then as we headed through the more traditional India part of town, we had many urban cow sightings. A little different from Nebraska cows, as you can tell:
It was hard to pick from all the cow photos, so I will post more when I have a faster internet connection. But they go out grazing and return home to live in the bottom floor of the house in many cases. After unsuccessfully dodging some street cowpies we had the experience of visiting a Hindu temple that you can see in the background and learning more about everything that goes on with that, which was quite interesting in the dark ancient hallways of the temple.
We returned from the excursion to hear more about what is being done to improve teacher training in India by some great people facing some real challenges.
